​WA-MS is led by a Steering Committee composed of delegates of the three founding member societies. Each founding member has six delegates, which includes the President, Secretary and Treasurer, which are provided by the presiding Society. These delegates have the duty to initiate the activities of the Association, and to ensure the functioning of the Association in meeting its objectives as described in the constitution.

The President, Secretary, and Treasurer of the World Association of Membrane Societies are currently represented by the North American Membrane Society (NAMS). The presiding Society will switch to the European Membrane Society (EMS) at ICOM 2026 in San Antonio, USA.
